Benoit Systemes’ products comply with the European Regulation 2017/745 on Medical Devices (Class I).
If you want to travel with your Benoit Systemes device on your wheelchair using public transport, we recommend checking that your wheelchair is approved according to the ISO 7176-19 standard.
Wheelchairs are approved once they have passed crash tests, by being secured with the straps found in cars. Please contact the manufacturer of your wheelchair directly to confirm this information.
Yes, Light Drive and Light Assist can be transported by plane because standard Lithium-ion battery complies with IATA regulations. If you have to travel by air, please contact the airline. The battery certificate can be found on our website on the Documentation page

Light Drive 2.1 and Light Assist 2.1 are equipped with a Lithium-ion battery. It complies with the current IATA regulations for air travel. LIGHT DRIVE 2.1 AND LIGHT ASSIST 2.1
Light Drive 2.1 and Light Assist 2.1 have a warranty of 24 months, battery and charger included. Excluded consumable spare parts.
Light Drive 2.1 and Light Assist 2.1 can be fitted on all manual wheelchairs, both foldable and rigid frames. We can also fit them on tilt-in-space wheelchairs.

Your manual wheelchair must meet the following requirements to be eligible for using our power add-ons:
- Seat width from 32 cm
- Width between the rear wheels from 40 cm
- Wheel diameter: 22‘’, 24’’ and 26’’
- Caster wheel diameter: 5’’- 6’’- 7’’- 8’’
- Type of rear wheels: spoke wheels
- Type of tyres: pneumatic such as SCHWALBE Marathon Plus

Yes, you can keep your current power add-on and ask for a refitting on your new wheelchair. The refitting needs to be done by experienced technicians. We recommend you to contact your dealer for more information.
Solid tyres are not compatible with our devices. When purchasing a Light Drive 2.1 or Light Assist 2.1, your tyres should be replaced with pneumatic tyres by your dealer.
Wheelchair users are advised to buy a compressor with a pressure gauge for inflating tyres.
The condition of the tyres is essential for the mobility and maintenance of the wheelchair.
Therefore, the pressure in the tyres should always be correct to optimize the performance of the wheelchair.
Caution!
- A low pressure leads to increasing the ground resistance on wheels, lowering manoeuvrability ?
- If pressure is too high, the tyre may burst and will not wear in the same way.
The recommended pressure is 8 bar.
Check your tyres regularly (pressure and general condition).
Yes you can free wheel without removing your power add-on from your wheelchair, by turning the handles on the motor to the disengaged position :
1. Disengage the left handle all the way down until it stops
2. Disengage the right handle all the way to the backrest of the wheelchair.
Check the tyres regularly (pressure and general condition) at a frequency of once a month.
Version 2.1 :
- Disengage the left handle and pull it forward.
- Disengage and return the right handle to the backrest.
Version 2 :
- Disengage the left handle and pull it forward.
- Wedge the handle against the anti-swing stop..
- Disengage and return the right handle to the backrest.
You will be able to drive your wheelchair manually without removing the power add-on.

Our products are protected against light water splashes. They can be used in case of light rain or brief rain showers. We advise you to let it dry well after use.
We recommend charging your power add-ons after each use in order to always have the maximum autonomy.
Each charging cycle must be completed. If you do not charge the batteries, they will be damaged and their autonomy will be reduced.
Please refer to servicing and maintenance manual to have more details about maintenance and charging.
Yes, you can charge the battery of the Light Drive or Light Assist with the car charger supplied by Benoit Systemes. You only need to plug this charger into cigarette lighter socket.
The charge indicator that's built into the charger should notify you. The color indicator will change from orange to green once the charging is complete. A second charge indicator is available on the 11.4Ah battery (sold in 2022). Please consult your maintenance and servicing manual for more information.
LIGHT DRIVE
If you have a Light Drive, there are 2 ways to charge your battery:
If the battery stays on the wheelchair,
connect the charger to the joystick.
If the battery is removed,
connect the charger to the red connector on the battery.
Then plug the charger into the power supply.Disconnect once the load is complete.

You need to connect the charger to the red connector on the battery.
Mobili kit
The Mobili Kit can be fitted to all chairs with 4 legs.
WELL-BEING ACCESSORIES
Kitcool 2.0 can fit on most manual chairs with fixed rear push handles, located above the backrest.
Your manual wheelchair must meet the following characteristics to be eligible for using Kitcool 2.0:
- Seat width: between 26 and 52 cm
- Push handles length: min. 9 cm
- Push handle diameter: between 20 and 35 mm
We recommend you contact your distributor/dealer to check its compatibility.
There is no maximum weight for using Kitcool 2.0. Kitcool fits on seat widths from 26 cm to 52 cm.
We recommend that you clean the cushion regularly with a damp cloth and do not use abrasive or alcohol-based detergents.

It is possible to order only the base of the Kitcool 2.0, called Kitcool 2.0 without headrest, which fits the same seat widths (from 26 to 52 cm). We recommend you contact your distributor/dealer for more information.
Acti’tab fits on most manual wheelchairs. We recommend you contact your distributor/dealer for more information.
There are 3 sizes of Acti'tab. It will depend on the seat width of your wheelchair. We recommend you contact your distributor/dealer to check its compatibility.
Set up on the lap, Acti'tab is mainly used to carry everyday light items (mobile phone, digital tablet, book, newspaper...). It is possible to install a reinforcement bar (in option) for a better stability of Acti'tab when it is not put on the knees. We recommend you contact your distributor/dealer for more information.
As Acti'tab is available in left or right-handed version, the lap tray is compatible with Light Drive. It will be set up on the opposite side of your Light Drive joystick, using an additional bracket. We recommend you contact your distributor/dealer to choose the right version of Acti’tab.
No, you can buy the accessories alone though your distributor/dealer.
Yes, there are 2 versions of Kitcool 2.0 that fit on :
- seat widths from 26 cm to 35 cm
- seat widths from 36 cm to 52 cm

No tools are needed to install the Kitcool 2.0. Indeed, it is equipped with 2 clamps that are attached directly to the rear handles of the wheelchair. We advise you to consult the user manual here.
